Data Deletion Policy

Here’s the streamlined Data Deletion Policy for DocStar, with all deletions happening 30 days after the user moves their data to Trash in‑app. Let me know if you’d like any tweaks.

Data Deletion Policy

1. Purpose

Ensure DocStar users can fully remove their personal and document‑related data upon request, in compliance with Apple App Store and Google Play requirements.

2. Scope

Applies to all personal data and user‑generated content stored by DocStar, including:

  • Account profile (name, email)

  • Documents, pages, attachments, comments

  • Usage logs and metadata

3. How Users Can Request Deletion

  1. Web‑Panel Self‑Service

    • Log in to DocStar via the web panel.

    • Navigate to Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete My Data and Account.

    • Confirm the deletion; your data will move to the in‑app Trash.

  2. Support Ticket

    • Email [email protected] with subject “Data Deletion Request – DocStar.”

    • Include the email address or user ID associated with your DocStar account.

    • We’ll move your data to the in‑app Trash on your behalf.

4. Deletion Timeline

All data in the in‑app Trash is permanently deleted 30 days after it’s moved there. No additional acknowledgement or notification windows apply.

5. Data Affected

After 30 days in Trash, we permanently delete:

  • Documents, attachments, comments, published content

  • Associated metadata (timestamps, sharing settings)

  • Personal profile information

6. Third‑Party Processors

We’ll instruct any subprocessors (hosting/CDN, analytics, etc.) to purge your data within 30 days of it entering Trash, or render it inaccessible if immediate purge isn’t supported.

7. Exceptions & Retention

To meet legal obligations (e.g., audits, tax) or prevent fraud/abuse, we may retain anonymized logs or backups beyond 30 days—but never with any identifiable user data.

8. Confirmation & Record‑Keeping

We retain only a minimal audit record of the deletion request (timestamp, user ID) without any personal data.

9. Contact & Appeals

If you believe we haven’t complied, contact our Data Protection Officer at [email protected]. We’ll respond within 15 business days.
