AI in the Editor

DocStar's AI helps you build your docs site and fill in page details faster. This page shows where each AI tool lives in the app and how to use it.

#

Before you start

  • Create a documentation or blog collection and open it.
  • Make sure you have edit access to the collection.
  • Open collection settings with Settings in the left sidebar.
#

Build a landing page with AI

Generate a full home page for your docs or blog from a description.

  1. Go to Settings → Templates.
  2. On the AI Generated Theme card, click Build with AI.
  3. Describe the page you want in the chat: goal, audience, sections, style and colours.
  4. Review the result and keep chatting to refine it, for example "make the hero smaller" or "add a search bar".
  5. When you're happy, select the generated theme and click Save.

To go back to an earlier design, click View AI Generation History. It lists past AI-generated themes for the collection so you can switch to one. For manual design, see Landing Page.

  1. Go to Settings → Header And Footer and choose the header or footer.
  2. Click Create header by AI (or Create footer by AI).
  3. Describe what you want, for example "Logo on the left, links to Docs, API and Pricing, and a Sign up button".
  4. Click Generate and check the Preview.
  5. Click Apply to Editor. You can still edit the code by hand afterwards.

See Header and Footer.

  1. On a page, click Add cover image.
  2. In Set Cover Image, open the AI tab.
  3. Describe the image and click Generate.
  4. Pick the image to use it as the cover.

Cover images work well at 1600 × 840.

Fill in a short name with AI

A short name is the label that appears in the sidebar (if you enable short names). When you create a page, turn on Fill with AI next to the short name field. DocStar then writes the short name for you.

#

Generate SEO metadata

  1. Open a page and click the Settings (gear) icon in the page header.
  2. In SEO Configuration, click Generate with AI.
  3. DocStar fills in Meta Title, Meta Description and Tags. Edit them if needed.

Check the AI SEO score

After a page is published, the same panel shows an AI SEO Score out of 100.

  • Click View Suggestions to see what to improve.
  • Click Chat with AI to Apply Suggestions to have AI help you make the changes.

The score is not available until the page is published. More in SEO.

Review before you publish

AI output is a starting point. Before you publish:

  • Read the content and check that it is correct.
  • Preview the page on desktop and mobile.
  • Make sure it matches your brand and tone.
