Analytics
The Analytics dashboard shows how each page in a collection is performing: reads, status, SEO score, feedback and where readers came from.
Open Analytics
- Open a collection.
- Click Analytics in the left sidebar.
You can also click the viewed count in a page's header (for example "120 viewed") to see that page's numbers without leaving the editor. It shows total views, UTM sources and feedback.
Summary cards
The top of the dashboard shows totals for the collection:
- Total Reads
- Total Pages
- Positive Feedback
- Negative Feedback
- Total UTM Counts
- Total Feedback (written comments)
Click Positive Feedback, Negative Feedback, Total UTM Counts or Total Feedback to filter the table to pages that have that data. Click again to clear the filter.

Filter the data
- Search by page name... finds a page quickly.
- The status menu shows All Pages, Live Pages Only or Unpublished Pages Only.
- The date menu shows All Time, Last Month, Last Week or a Custom Range. Custom ranges are rounded to full weeks (Monday to Sunday).
- The UTM menu shows All UTM Parameters or only visits with one parameter, such as
utm_source: newsletter.
UTM tracking
When someone opens a published page from a link that has query parameters, DocStar records them. For example:
https://docs.example.com/getting-started?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=june-launch
How it works:
- Any query parameters are recorded, not only
utm_ones. Up to 10 parameters per visit are kept, and values are stored in lowercase. - A repeat visit with the same parameters in the same browser session is counted once.
- Open a page's details and go to UTM Sources. Table View lists each parameter set with its count and first-seen date. Week/Month Breakdown shows views over time.
DocStar also tags outbound links. When a reader clicks a link on your docs that points to your own main domain (for example, from docs.example.com to example.com/pricing), DocStar adds utm_source with the docs page URL. Your website analytics then show which docs page sent the visitor.
Tips
- Add UTM parameters to every link you share in emails, release notes, social posts and in-app help.
- Sort by Reads to find your most important pages and keep them up to date.
- Sort by SEO Score to find published pages that need better titles, descriptions or content.
- Combine with Reader Feedback to see which popular pages confuse readers.
