Archive, Trash and Restore
Nothing you remove in DocStar is deleted straight away. Archived pages and deleted collections are kept for 90 days, and you can restore them at any time in that window.
What happens when you archive or delete
| You remove | Where it goes | What it takes with it |
|---|---|---|
| A page | Archived Pages of that collection | All its subpages (and endpoints, in an API collection) |
| An endpoint | Archived Pages, on the endpoints tab | Nothing else |
| A collection | Archived Collections of the workspace | All its pages |
Archived pages disappear from the sidebar and from your published site. After 90 days they are permanently deleted and can't be recovered.
Archive a page
- Hover over the page in the sidebar and click ....
- Click Archive.
- DocStar asks Do you want to add redirection?
- Click Yes to send visitors of this page's URL to another page, then set up the redirection. See Redirects.
- Click No to archive the page without a redirection.
Pages that are still called "Untitled" are archived right away, without the redirection prompt.
Restore an archived page
- Open the collection.
- At the bottom of the sidebar, click the archive icon (Archived Pages). If the sidebar is collapsed, click Archived Items.
- Find the page. Use the search box to filter the list. Each row shows when it was deleted and by whom, and you can preview the page before restoring it.
- Click the restore icon in the Restore column.
If the page's parent was archived too, DocStar shows Restore page and parent pages with the list of pages that will come back. Click Restore to bring back the page together with its parents, so it returns to its original place.
To restore an endpoint, switch to the endpoints tab on the same screen.
Delete a collection
- Open the collection and click Settings in the sidebar.
- Go to Collection Actions.
- Under Delete Collection, click Delete, then click Delete again to confirm.
Restore a deleted collection
- Click the collection switcher at the top of the sidebar.
- Click Archived Collections.
- Find the collection. The list shows when it was deleted and by whom.
- Click the restore icon in the Restore column.
The collection and its pages return to your workspace. Click Back to workspace to leave the archive.
Tips
- After restoring, open the page and check its publish status before you share it with readers. See Publish Pages.
- Restoring collections may need extra permissions. If the restore option doesn't work for you, ask a workspace admin. See Members and Roles.
- To undo a change inside a page rather than bring back a whole page, use Version History.
