Gallery View

Gallery View shows a page's subpages as a grid of cards on your published site. You choose the card design and layout once for the whole collection, and can turn the cards on or off page by page.

Choose a card template

  1. Open the collection and click Settings in the sidebar.

  2. Go to the Gallery View tab.

  3. Under Card Template, choose one:

    Template What each card shows
Image Card Cover image, title and a short preview. Subpages without a cover get a default image.
Standard Card Title, a short preview and the date it was last updated.
Default View The page title only, as a compact link. This is the default.
  4. Under Cards per Row, choose 1 Card per Row or 2 Cards per Row.

  5. Check the Preview to see how the cards will look.

  6. Click Save.

The new design applies to your published site straight away.

For the whole collection

  1. Go to Settings › Theme & Customization.
  2. Under Visible Components, switch Gallery View on or off. The gear icon next to it opens the Gallery View settings.
  3. Save your changes.

Gallery View is on by default.

For a single page

  1. Open the page and click the settings (gear) icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Under Page Settings, switch Gallery View on or off.

A page's own setting always wins over the collection setting. For example, you can turn Gallery View off for the collection and on for just your "Guides" page.

When to use each template

  • Image Card suits visual help centers, tutorials and product guides, where each subpage has a cover image.
  • Standard Card suits knowledge bases where readers want a summary and to see how fresh each article is.
  • Default View suits reference docs with many short subpages, where a compact list of links is easier to scan.

Tips

  • Gallery View only shows on pages that have subpages.
  • Blog collections don't have this setting. Their home page already lists posts as cards. See Blogs.
  • Add cover images with Add cover image above each subpage's title. See Editor Basics.
  • To learn what the cards contain and how to link pages manually, see Navigation Cards.
